Food Pets Die For is a revealing look at the pet food industry. More detailed than See Spot Live Longer, it is still easily readable and well researched.
Four Paws, Five Directions is a great book! It is very readable, and clearly explains the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach. It is more in-depth than many books written for owners, yet is not overwhelming to the newcomer to just starting to explore alternative medical approaches. Highly recommended!
The Holistic Guide to a Healthy Dog is the classic text of holistic and natural dog care. Wendy Volhard, a pioneer of feeding a natural diet, explores a variety of topics relevant to our dogs' health. The natural diet is fully explained -- the book is worth having in your library for this alone! Very readable and well illustrated. If you could have only one book, this is the one to have.
Complimentary and Alternative Veterinary Medicine is one of the first textbooks available in the field. Written by Allen Schoen, a leading holistic veterinarian. As you would expect from a textbook, the information is technical and comprehensive.

See Spot Live Longer is a very readable, well referenced guide to a healthier dog. The explanations of real food feeding are very good!
